Riyadh Golf Club Hosts Exciting LIV Golf Promotions Event

Riyadh Golf Club Shines as Players Aim for LIV Golf Dreams

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – The excitement at the LIV Golf Promotions event wasn’t just about one victory. While Max Lee clinched his spot in next season’s LIV Golf League, plenty of others walked away with some serious opportunities of their own. The top 10 finishers at Riyadh Golf Club, including several intriguing names, have earned exemptions into all 10 events on next year’s International Series calendar.

Among the talented crew is an impressive lineup featuring American Ollie Schniederjans, Germany’s Max Rottluff, England’s David Horsey, South Korean Soomin Lee, and the Aussie duo of Brett Coletta and Jack Buchanan. It’s a solid mix that showcases the growing global interest in golf’s evolving landscape.

Rottluff’s Road to Opportunity

Rottluff, who used to room with Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm at Arizona State, was already eyeing tips from his fellow golfer, Martin Kaymer, before the four-round tournament kicked off. His skills shone through, especially when he started the week with a stunning 6-under 65, securing him the second spot in Round 1. By keeping a clean slate in the following rounds, he ended up with three birdies, finishing with a solid four-under total, landing him in seventh place. “I’m going to take a very close look at the calendar,” Rottluff shared excitedly. “I can’t wait to travel the globe and take part in the International Series.”

Horsey Finds His Way

Then there’s Horsey, who faced quite a nail-biter towards the end. You could sense the tension in his first few holes where he stumbled with two bogeys, but he managed to pull it together. With a 1-under round and a 36-hole aggregate of 3-under, he finished T8. At 39, Horsey is no stranger to the challenges and opportunities of professional golf. “It’s great to have this chance to compete against strong players,” he explained. “I’ve played in some of these places before and others not, so I’m looking forward to a more robust schedule next year.”

Buchanan and Coletta Relish Rookie Success

For young golfers like Buchanan, finishing T4 feels like a significant win in what has already been an impressive rookie year. After bagging his first pro win at the WA PGA Championship in Australia, he couldn’t be happier. “While LIV Golf was my ultimate goal, getting into the International Series was on my radar too,” he said. “I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to play alongside some big names like Patrick Reed and Louis Oosthuizen.”

His fellow Australian Brett Coletta also shared his excitement. After competing against a stellar field that included the likes of Joaquin Niemann, he stated, “It was an unbelievable experience, and there’s more of that to come! I can’t wait to see what next year holds.”

What’s Next on the Calendar?

The fun isn’t stopping anytime soon! The calendar kicks off from January 30 – February 2 next year with the inaugural International Series India at the DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurugram. The chase continues with the International Series Macau just a few months later, from March 20-23. Other fan favorites like the International Series Morocco, BNI Indonesian Masters, and PIF Saudi International are also making a comeback. And who knows what brand-new venues might be introduced soon? The excitement is palpable!

As these talented players gear up for 2024, they’re not just striving for personal achievement; they’re part of an evolving global golfing community that’s ready to entertain and inspire.
