It’s that thrilling time of year again, and the University of North Alabama Women’s Golf Team is all set to swing into action! The team is heading to the DeBary Country Club in Florida to participate in the Babs Steffens Invitational this week, which will be held from February 22 to February 23, 2026. This tournament marks their second appearance at this event, but it’s their first time at the current course that promises to be just as exciting as ever!

Event Details

Hosted by Stetson University, this event is one of six invitationals the UNA team will be competing in this spring. As one of the key competitions, the players will contest a total of 54 holes across their two-day stint in DeBary. The first round kicks off on February 23 with tee time set for 7:45 a.m. CT, while the final round will take place on February 24, also at 7:45 a.m. CT. A little friendly competition to start the early morning!

  • Sirichaya Chanpen – Sophomore from Bangkok, Thailand, takes the lead as the #1 golfer.

  • Ava Schwartz – A junior from Temple, Texas, rounds out the team at #4.
  • Kiersten Riggins – Fresh from Trussville, Alabama, this rookie brings in fresh energy at #5.

Currently, UNA is ranked 196th in the national scoreboard out of a whopping 286 teams, showing that they have a competitive spirit to improve and make a fantastic impression in this upcoming tournament.

In their last outing at The Judson hosted by Southern Miss back in October 2025, UNA finished in sixth place. It was a solid performance that boosted team morale and showcased their potential. Looking at individual performances, Sirichaya Chanpen ended with an 18th place finish, ending the tournament at five-over, while Kerigan Klauber shone bright with a fantastic 23rd place finish, including an impressive first round score of two-under-par 70.

March 27-28, 2022. The team secured an overall 10th place finish, with Jahnavi Prakhya as the standout performer from that year, finishing ninth. With the past experiences and the tight-knit team spirit, the Lions are hoping to better their performance this time around.

Other schools in the mix include Stetson, West Georgia, Troy, Appalachian State, UNC Asheville, SIU Carbondale, Georgia State, Southern Utah, Drake, Bryant, Le Moyne College, Palm Beach State, Seminole State College, Keiser, and Mount Mercy.
