Lee Chieh-po Wins LIV Golf in Riyadh, Making History!

Lee Chieh-po Makes History in Riyadh with LIV Golf Win!

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – What a day for golf! It was a thrilling finish as Lee Chieh-po, also known as Max, took the crown at the grueling 36-hole LIV Golf Promotions event on Saturday. Thanks to a stellar performance that started with a staggering nine birdies in the morning and a clutch shot later in the day, Lee is now heading to the LIV Golf League for the 2025 season. That’s right; he’ll be the first player from Chinese Taipei to have full-time status in this prestigious league!

An Inspiring Journey

At just 30 years old, Lee is already a shining example for golfers back home. “It means a lot for our players,” said the Asian Tour regular, reflecting on his achievement. “LIV Golf, I think it’s many players’ dream. I go there, and they will come.” His journey has been nothing short of inspiring. After winning his first tournament earlier this year at the International Series Thailand, Lee is ready to pave the way for more talent from his region.

The Road to Victory

Lee put on quite a show at the Riyadh Golf Club, finishing with an impressive total of 10 under par to clinch the victory. He came out hot with a jaw-dropping 7-under 64 during his morning round, which helped him carve out a comfortable lead over the competition. Right behind him were stars like Taichi Kho and Branden Grace, with Kho trailing Lee by just two strokes at the end.

It all began with Lee’s flawless performance where he nailed nine birdies, including four in the last five holes! Talk about clutch! As the day wore on, he stayed in the driver’s seat, turning with a one-shot lead over Grace, who was eager to make his own mark.

Pressure Makes Diamonds

But just when it looked like Lee would run away with the win, things got a little dicey. A wayward shot on the par-4 16th led to a bogey, leaving him momentarily rattled. “I hit it way poor to the left, and I was laughing, like, what am I doing?” Lee chuckled, vividly recalling the moment.

With Grace and Kho finishing strong on the final hole, Lee found himself with just a single stroke lead heading into the challenging par-3 17th, known as the most difficult hole on the back nine this week. He stepped up and delivered the shot of the day, nearly rolling his tee ball right into the cup!

Finishing Strong

After making birdie on 17 and avoiding trouble on 18, Lee closed out the win with finesse. “Just tried to reset my mind,” he said about his focus. “Hole No. 17, that shot is very important. I hit a very good tee shot.”

Looking Ahead

For Grace, who was watching anxiously from the clubhouse, this event was still a chance to solidify his place with Stinger GC. “I played good, gave it everything,” he said after the round, indicating his hopes weren’t dashed entirely.

Meanwhile, American Ollie Schniederjans, who has battled his share of injuries, felt encouraged by the experience. “I’m very confident about where everything is heading,” he expressed, “It did give me even more confidence.”

What’s Next for Lee?

As for Lee, his confidence is soaring. Having recently overcome a hip injury that forced swing adjustments, he feels ready to take on the world of LIV Golf. “On the LIV Tour, every player is very strong,” he noted, clearly eager to sharpen his skills and absorb the challenges that lie ahead. “I think I can learn something. I will learn something.”

With 2025 on the horizon, we can’t wait to see what this golf star from Chinese Taipei will accomplish next!
