But that’s not all! The annual business meeting of the association will take place earlier in the week on Wednesday, January 22, at the Orange County Convention Center. Set to start at 11 a.m., this meeting will unfold in Room 312C, known as the Media Work Room. It’s a great chance for members to gather and discuss the future of golf travel writing before the International Network of Golf bestows its prestigious Media Awards starting at 12:30 p.m..
A Prime Location for Golf Enthusiasts
If you’ve ever wanted to check out a top-notch golf venue, you won’t want to miss Heathrow Legacy Country Club. This gem is owned and operated by Concert Golf Partners, a privately held company that boasts a portfolio of 36 upscale private clubs across the United States. The club recently underwent an impressive $3 million upgrade, making it even more appealing to golf lovers.
Heathrow features two remarkable courses—the Heathrow Country Club course, designed by renowned architect Ron Garl, and the Legacy Club course, crafted by the legendary Tom Fazio. With two clubhouses located just a mile apart, you’ll have plenty of space to mingle, play, and enjoy the lush greens.
A Gathering of Golf Writers from Near and Far
“A good portion of our writers and editors will be attending the PGA Show, so we expect a good turnout for our annual meeting and the first formal outing of the new year,” says Len Ziehm, the association’s executive director. The excitement in the air implies that gathering for these events will be a fantastic opportunity for both seasoned professionals and newcomers alike to network and share ideas in the ever-evolving world of golf travel.
As members of the Golf Travel Writers of America prepare to convene in Orlando, the enthusiasm around their planned activities is palpable. With an agenda that balances business, networking, and a bit of fun on the course, these events are poised to be a delightful start to the new year in golf travel.
