Excitement Builds for Blue Canyon Ladies Championship in Phuket, Thailand

Phuket is gearing up for an extraordinary golf event as it prepares to host the Blue Canyon Ladies Championship 2025 from March 13-16, 2025. This thrilling tournament will feature a whopping total prize money of US$800,000, a noticeable increase from last year’s US$650,000. It’s the second year in a row that Thailand has the honor of hosting this prestigious championship, and expectations are sky-high.

A Stellar Lineup of Talented Golfers

The upcoming championship promises to be an exciting affair, gathering some of the best female golfers from around the globe. It will showcase a dynamic mix of competitors, including top talents from the KLPGA Tour and 40 stellar players invited from various Asian countries. How’s that for a showdown?

Among the invitees are the top 8 golfers from the Thai LPGA Tour Order of Merit and the top 4 players from the Japan LPGA Tour Order of Merit. Additionally, two promising golfers each from countries like India, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, Taiwan, Australia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Malaysia will also be part of the action. This totals an impressive 18 players, along with three qualifiers from the National Qualifiers (including two Thai golfers and one international player) and seven sponsor invitees. Talk about a diverse and exciting lineup!

A Glimpse Back at Last Year’s Triumph

Last year’s inaugural event was a tremendous success, with Lee Ye-won taking home the crown with a remarkable score of 9-under-par 207. It was one of her three exceptional victories that season, and it set the bar high for what’s to come next. Praphant Asava-aree, Chairman of the Blue Canyon Country Club, expressed excitement about building on this success. “The 2024 tournament was one of the most exciting and vibrant golf events in Thailand,” he said. “We’re thrilled to continue hosting the KLPGA Tour.”

Asava-aree also mentioned plans to elevate the experience further for 2025. “We aim to bring in even more top-tier players from the Thai LPGA and leading female golfers from across Asia,” he added. To cement that goal, they’re introducing the National Qualifiers, giving both Thai and international golfers a chance to showcase their skills on such a grand stage. Isn’t that fantastic?
