Starting May 23, the club will close its doors for renovations and will reopen on September 1. This is all part of a major revamp that promises to make your golfing experience even more enjoyable!

A New Look Awaits

Owned by the city and managed by Atlantic Golf Management, Whispering Pines is set to undergo a series of fabulous upgrades. These renovations include a complete regrassing of the tees, greens, and fairways, ensuring that each part of the course is top-notch.

For those who love a smooth green to putt on, you’ll be thrilled to know that the current greens will be replaced with the latest in grass technology: Sunday ultradwarf Bermudagrass. Why this grass, you ask? It’s known for its lush appearance and ability to withstand heat and drought, giving you a consistent and beautiful putting surface.

But that’s not all! The tees and fairways will be resodded with a newer grass variety called Bimini Bermuda. Carlos Ortiz Claims Victory at International Series Macau, Secures Spot at The Open Championship

In an exciting finish to the International Series Macau, Carlos Ortiz from Torque GC emerged victorious, showcasing his outstanding skills in golf by finishing with a stunning 22-under par after closing the final round with a 6-under 64. This win not only marks his second victory on the International Series and the Asian Tour but also guarantees him a coveted spot at The Open Championship set to take place at Royal Portrush this summer.

The Final Showdown

Ortiz started the final round tied for the lead alongside Patrick Reed of 4Aces GC. Right out of the gate, he took charge, firing off birdies on the first three holes and an incredible eagle on the par-5 12th. As the holes progressed, it became clear that Ortiz was not going to be easily chased down. Meanwhile, Reed, who was hoping to build on his past win at the Hong Kong Open, struggled with his putting and finished with a 67, ending the tournament at 19-under and settling for second place. He reflected on missed opportunities on the greens that likely cost him the title.

A Fiercely Competitive Field

In a strong display of talent, Jason Kokrak of Smash GC also finished strong at 19-under, sharing Reed’s spot behind Ortiz. It was an exhilarating tournament that kept fans engaged right until the last hole. Sergio Garcia, captain of Fireballs GC and the 2017 Masters Champion, finished in a respectable fourth place after scoring a final round of 5-under 65, bringing his total score to 18-under. However, he had a heart-stopping moment when he missed a crucial 3-foot birdie attempt on the final hole that could have seen him tie Kokrak and challenge for a qualifying spot at The Open.

Notable Performances

Other standout performances included Richard T. Lee from Canada, finishing fifth with a closing round of 65 for a total of 16-under. The competition also showcased some brilliant golf from Adrian Meronk and Taichi Kho, who finished in a share for sixth place with rounds of 64 and 65, respectively. Defending champion John Catlin had a disappointing finish, tying for 26th with a score of 4-under.
