Chart Hills Golf Club Makes a Splash in Golf World’s Top 100 Following Major Renovations
Golf enthusiasts, rejoice! Chart Hills Golf Club has officially made its way back into the prestigious Golf World’s Top 100 Courses in England. This exciting recognition comes after a hefty five-year renovation and investment program that kicked off in 2019. Talk about a comeback!
A Gem by Sir Nick Faldo
Chart Hills opened its greens to the public in 1993 and has since showcased a stunning design by none other than golf legend Sir Nick Faldo. This course marked his architectural debut, and it has continued to impress golfers ever since. With a mix of challenging holes and scenic views, every round is a thrilling experience.
The New Addition: “The Loop”
Making the Greens Even Greener
In addition to The Loop, a stunning new 668 m² putting green has been revealed, showcasing designs inspired by Sir Nick Faldo’s favorite green shapes. One highlight is the feature known as the Valley of Sin, which adds an extra layer of intrigue to this essential practice area.
Year-Round Playability
The renovations don’t stop there! Between 2020 and 2021, a sandcapping project was carried out across all 18 fairways. This means golfers can expect improved year-round playability. The new layout not only provides a firmer and truer surface but also holds up exceptionally well during wet spells, making rainy days no longer a cause for despair.
Revamped Tee Boxes and Markers
The club takes pride in its dedication to excellence; between 2024 and 2025, 72 tee boxes were renovated. Stripping, leveling, draining, and re-turfing were all completed to ensure consistency and comfort for players. New yardage-based markers allow for a range of lengths from slightly above 5,500 yards to over 7,100 yards, catering to golfers of all skill levels.
A Hole to Remember
Let’s not forget about the iconic par-5 fifth hole, aptly named The Anaconda, which is famous for having one of Europe’s longest bunkers. Then there’s the challenging 17th hole, known for its stunning island green, which provides a tough test for players as they approach the final stages of their round. It’s moments like these that golfers remember long after they’ve left the course.
