In its very first year, over 3,600 visiting golfers have snagged a tee time, illustrating just how effective this new method is.
How Does It Work?
While many tee times are still reserved for locals through a daily ballot, the new system cleverly addresses the availability of empty spots. Swinging into action daily, opportunities such as three-balls or two spots next to local pairs are available for visitors. Interested golfers simply have to register their name at the Old Course Pavilion or the St. Andrews Links Clubhouse. Just remember—registration is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the day before you want to play!
But wait, there’s more! To validate your presence in the area, be prepared to snap a photograph at the Pavilion when you register. At 5 p.m. daily, a random drawing occurs, with successful golfers getting notified via text and email. This nifty system not only increases access but also makes it much more comfortable for players.
